Peter N. Knight is an American indie folk singer-songwriter based in the San Francisco Bay Area. A multi-instrumentalist with a modern, intimate sound that spans soulful ballads to addictive pop-folk anthems, Peter writes from life — bringing his audience inside stories of close friends, lost loves, and new-found lifelong soulmates.
Born and raised in New York City, Peter grew up a latchkey kid on the streets of Brooklyn and Manhattan — an upbringing that left an indelible mark on his songwriting. Songs like Henry Street, Living Room in Brooklyn, and Kissed You Then are vivid dispatches from that era: the block parties, the fire escapes, the fireworks from the roof. He's been called a "neo mellow artist" who cleverly weaves personal nostalgia into universally resonant music.
Now rooted in California, Peter channels that same storytelling into his present: marriage, fatherhood, the passage of time. His debut collection of singles — distributed worldwide via CDBaby and streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and beyond — has earned placements on 30+ indie folk playlists and reviews in Jamsphere and The Bandcamp Diaries. He is currently completing his debut full-length album, "Homework."
Live, Peter performs solo acoustic, often accompanied by his guitar and a carefully curated 12-song arc. His shows are known for warmth, candor, and the feeling that you've just heard something true. He regularly performs at songwriter showcases and open stages throughout the Bay Area.
Fans of Matt Nathanson, John Mayer, Donovan Woods, and Francis Moon will find a natural home in his catalog.

Homework begins where Peter N. Knight began — on Henry Street in Manhattan, a latchkey kid coming home to a quiet apartment and figuring things out mostly alone. The album traces the long interior journey of growing up: the texture of a New York City childhood, the confusion of adolescence, the stumbles of young adulthood, and the slow uneven work of learning to trust yourself and understand your own worth. These are songs about becoming — about holding the question what am I worth? at different ages and finding different, uncertain answers, until eventually the work pays off and something settles. Folk music made for the kind of reckoning that happens in private, Homework is the record of everything Peter had to carry and sort through before his life could finally hold steady — a quiet, honest accounting of the inner work that nobody grades but everybody has to do.
